His previous work has appeared in Musical QuarterlyAmerican Music, Journal of the Society for American Music, and numerous books and reference sources. He is co-editor of Listening Across Borders: Musicology in the Global Classroom (Routledge, 2021) and a project leader for Voices Across Time (voices.pitt.edu), a resource that helps educators integrate music into K–12 curricula.
