The Evolution of Fife and Drum Music

The Rising Stars Fife and Drum Band, led by Sharde Thomas of Cold Water, Mississippi, presents a mixture folk, blues, and pop in the traditional style of fife and drum music that has been performed in the North Mississippi hill country for generations. Her appearance at Blue Tavern will integrate performance and discussion of the history and evolution of this music, and is sure to have ‘Everybody Hollerin’ Goat!’
