Learning (With) Software: Listening to and Making Contemporary Recordings

Contemporary music making in America is supported and constrained by recording software. Over the last two decades, digital tools like digital audio workstations (DAWs), plug-ins, which operate within existing software, and modelers, which “model” analog equipments, have become standard tools. This workshop will explore the main tools that musicians and audio engineers use to make contemporary recordings. Workshop will be led by Grammy-nominated audio engineer and vocal producer, Jasmine Chen. Jasmine has worked on projects for 88rising, HAIM, Jonah Mutono, Kaleena Zanders, Kelly Clarkson, Love Mansuy, Olivia Rodrigo, Snoop Dogg, Syd, Steve Jablonsky (film scores), and many more.
